Le Bal Rouge 2020 raises $730K to fix broken hearts

September 01, 2021

Le Bal Rouge 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of this, our community came together in support of cardiovascular care. Sponsors and guests donated the cost of their tickets to the Fix Broken Hearts campaign, raising over $730,000.

Tens of thousands of Canadians succumb to heart disease each year, making cardiology a critical area of support for the MUHC Foundation. The 2020 gala was to be held in recognition of Chief of Cardiology Dr. Nadia Giannetti, whose distinguished career includes founding the MUHC’s Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Centre. We are pleased to honour her contributions to the field and to our city, as well as her passion for helping others.

The gala was co-chaired by Nadine Renaud-Tinker, President, Quebec, RBC and Paul Genest, Senior Vice-President, Power Corporation of Canada. Although the event did not occur, both co-chairs worked tirelessly behind the scenes in the months leading up to the gala to make sure it would have been a night to remember. The Foundation thanks them for their leadership and dedication.
